Personal Grooming

Your morning ritual has been a part of you since your early teens, how has it changed over the years or has it?

Shaving

Always shave with a mirror that is well lit and that allows close examination of the face during the procedure. Always use a shave cream that is suited for your face. To prevent blunt shaving, take note of when you start a new blade. Depending on the toughness of your beard, replace at regular intervals for a smooth shave. After you shave apply a moisturizer.

Hair

There is a hairstyle to suit everyone. Hair may be floppy and straight, springy and curly, or thinning; you may have salt and pepper hair, any kind of hair will benefit from a good cut and professional advice.

When choosing a hairdresser, it is of great importance to seek out someone who you have a rapport with and understands your lifestyle and personal idiosyncrasies. If you sit down in the chair and the first words of the stylist is "which number would you like?" as they hold a clipper close to your head ... run for your life.

Teeth and Breath

Your dentist is an important part of your grooming regime, chose one that is close by and is always updating their skills and equipment. Always make time to clean your teeth, brushing and flossing will keep your teeth and gums in shape for years to come. Bad breath may be traced either to teeth or to diet and stomach problems. Regular use of mouthwash is vital, and mouth fresheners are now available in handy formats from sprays to individual taste leaves. Always have a toothbrush at the office for those after lunch meetings.

Hands and Feet

hands

First impressions count and your hands can say a tremendous amount about you. Caring for your hands is simple common sense. Boardroom or factory, dinner table or diner, your hands are much in evidence at work or at leisure and are able to communicate a great deal about your approach to life.

For a man, the nail should be trimmed short, curved to reflect the shape of the top of the finger, with the cuticles well pushed back and the surface clean and buffed. An over-manicured hand, with overly polished nails that are too long, simply implies that here is a man who is vain, lazy and afraid of getting his hands dirty in work or leisure.

Problems with your feet will make life extremely difficult for you, so it is therefore an investment to spend time and trouble on them to avoid such an eventuality. Toenails should be regularly trimmed and kept very short. For all forms of activity, wear the correct shoes to support and protect the feet.

"The man of character finds an especial attractiveness in difficulty since it is only by coming to grips with difficulty that he can realize his potentialities."
Charles de Gaulle
